Snoop Dogg said he's not completely retiring from hip-hop but is "tired" of the genre because it is no longer challenging
"I didn't know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, 'Snoop Dogg.' And he looked me in my eyes and said, 'No more. You are the light; you are the lion.' From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there," he said at a press conference.
"I didn't want to be Snoop Dogg on a reggae track ... I wanted to bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion, but I didn't know that until I went to the temple and received the name Snoop Lion from the Nyabingi priest," the rapper said.
Snoop Lion has already been introduced onto social media platforms to promote the rapper's latest single, "La La La," along with his upcoming album and documentary, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
