Caymanian Music Legend Wellesley Howell, will be Honoured with a National Stamp.
Saxophonist Wellesley Howell

According to Premier Wayne Panton, the late saxophonist and shoemaker Wellesley Howell will be honoured with a national stamp in recognition of his contributions to the Cayman Islands.


Panton revealed the honor while paying tribute to Howell, Cayman's oldest person, at his funeral on Saturday (August 7th) at First Baptist Church.


Wellesley Howell who was born in Chesterfield, St Mary, Jamaica on 7 January 1915, migrated to Cayman from in 1958, at the invitation of bandleader S. E. Nembhard, who sought Howell’s services as a saxophone player.


Howell died on July 23, in West Bay, Cayman Islands, at the age of 106
