Wall of FAME: Caribbean Born Actor Kelsey Grammer


Six time Emmy Award winning actor Kelsey Grammer was born in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Kelsey began as an actor in Shakespearean roles. He studied for two years at Julliard before performing in regional theater and then on Broadway in "Othello" and "MacBeth."

Kelsey is most known for playing Psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane in the sitcom "Fraiser," as well as the sitcom "Cheers."In fact, Kelsey is the first actor in television history to receive multiple Emmy nominations for performing the same role on three series. In addition to "Cheers" and "Frasier," Kelsey received an Emmy nomination for his guest appearance in that role on the sitcom "Wings."In total, Kelsey played this role for two decades.

Kelsey received nine Emmy nominations and four awards as Outstanding Actor for his work on "Frasier." He also won two Golden Globe Awards, two American Comedy Awards, and a People's Choice Award for the role. Overall, Kelsey has won five Primetime Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and one Tony Award.

Kelsey's distinct voice has also led to voice-over roles in various hit animated features, including the voice of Stinky Pete in Disney's hit Toy Story 2 and a role in Anastasia. He was also the voice of Sideshow Bob on the Simpsons, earning his fifth Emmy Award for his work.

Grammer is also a noted Producer. His production company, Grammnet Productions, produced "Girlfriends" and "The Game", and the NBC drama Medium, among many other projects.
