- Pioneering DJ’s David Rodigan and Barry G to Celebrate Iconic 30th Anniversary in New York
New York, NY - There is no doubt that this Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend will be one of the most musically memorable moments of the decade in the New York Tri-State area. Yes, the decade. On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Caribbean entertainment specialists Irish and Chin , in conjunction with Irie Jam Radio , will present David “Ram Jam” Rodigan and Barrington “Barry G” Gordon’s 30th Anniversary at the plush Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York. Sponsored by Western Union, the event commemorates the 30thAnniversary of the legendary David Rodigan and Barry G’s famed on-air sound clashes. Two of the best to ever do it will deliver an unforgettable evening of divine Reggae music, fun and slice of an unprecedented era in Jamaican music and culture. As U.S. appearances from David Rodigan and Barry G are rare, there is overwhelming momentum for the 30th Anniversary and endorsement from the overall Caribbean market. Moreover, it’s been nearly 4 years since David Rodigan last performed in the U.S. and just as long for Barry G . Both masters of their craft, the pioneering DJs brought sound clash to radio via a series of historical on-air clashes in 1985. Prior to this, sound clash, a cornerstone of Jamaican music and culture, was reserved for lawns and venues. The two wowed scores of listeners and captivated the island with their on-air sparring, making history all-the-while. The clashes were a phenomenon, officially locking down Rodigan’s Jamaican fan base. Technically, David Rodigan is one of the first “non-Jamaican” selectors to be whole-heartedly embraced by Reggae music fans. At the time of the clashes, David Rodigan was a well-respected radio personality on UK’s Capitol Radio, while the uber-talented Barry G was on Jamaica’s famed JBC Radio. “Jamaica has a rich music culture with sound clash as it’s mainstay,” says Garfield “Chin” Bourne of Irish and Chin. “As a promoter deeply vested in sound clash, I couldn’t think of a greater way to pay tribute to this phenomenon, while celebrating icons David Rodigan and Barry G, who have had an immeasurable impact and influence on the culture.” “We will ensure that attendees have a night they will never forget, as they take a trip down memory lane with entertainment from legends,” a dds Garfield “Chin” Bourne. Adding to the already buzzing combo of the David Rodigan and Barry G reunion, is music from top Stone Love selector Rory . Without question, Rory will capitalize on his well channeled years of experience and music knowledge to entertain the massive crowd. Ninja of Mighty Crown will bring fans from the past to the present with an impressive array of selections. The highly anticipated night will be musically balanced, offering all in attendance a night to remember.

- Featured Chef: Stuart Gray of Coco Bistro, Turks and Caicos
LOCATED IN A COCONUT GROVE IN GRACE BAY A long-time Provo favourite, Executive Chef Stuart Gray has built an impeccable reputation based on consistency, creativity and a wholehearted passion and zeal for the foods he creates. Not a ‘froufrou’ chef by his own admission, Stuart prefers to focus on creating his dishes with the freshest of ingredients, preferably local, and enhancing the flavours with his own particular forte, his distinctive and divine sauces, masterfully prepared to compose the perfect balance to complement the dish without overpowering. An aficionado of fresh herbs and spices, Stuart cultivates his own herb garden that produces an abundant supply of basil, mint, lemongrass and a kaffir lime tree, whose extraordinary leaves are hailed for their intense pungency, particularly in Thai cuisine. Preceding his arrival to Providenciales in 1993, Stuart honed his original culinary skills at Ontario, Canada’s Georgian College, and went on to establish an impressive history at a succession of acclaimed and awardwinning destinations beginning with the Windsor Arms in Toronto, Ontario, which embraced the distinctive Relais & Châteaux affiliation, followed by Chewton Glen, a Michelin-star worldclass luxury hotel in the south of England. It was while there that Stuart seized the opportunity to take advantage of an executive chef position overseas, in the Turks & Caicos Islands. The rest is history, and Providenciales’ good fortune. Stuart boasts an extraordinary and impressive list, beginning with Anacaona, The Terrace, a brief detour off island as a consultant to Clive & Stuart’s Island Seafood restaurant in Dallas, Texas which included TV spots on Good Morning Texas, back on-island to Fairways Bar & Grill, Aqua Bar & Terrace and finally, Coco Bistro. For a time, Stuart Gray was indeed a Chef with a lot on his plate, performing ‘double duty’ with the immensely popular Fairways Bar & Grill coupled with his reopening and metamorphosis of Coco Bistro. Today, Stuart focuses his culinary passion exclusively on Coco Bistro. A dining establishment that naturally exudes atmosphere - vibrant and appealing Mediterranean architecture, enveloped in a tropical garden paradise beneath an animated canopy of about a hundred coconut palms. Stuart’s imaginative vision and innovative creativity is discernible in all of Coco Bistro’s elegant Caribbean cuisine boasting the freshest local ingredients and featuring fresh fish and meat prepared in distinctive new ways. When not in the kitchen, his passion is redirected to spending time with his family and Provo’s own Men’s Ball Hockey League, a pastime stemming from his younger years in minor league ice hockey in Canada, where he grew up. Not that long ago, when I asked Stuart about his future plans … his response was simply … to have the best restaurant on island. While a picture may paint a thousand words … and Coco Bistro certainly paints a dazzling picture - listening to the resonance of a garden overflowing with the melodious sounds of diners enjoying and appreciating a Coco Bistro experience is without a doubt testimony to Stuart’s overwhelming and tangible success, certain to stay a long-time Provo favourite! One year in the making and over 100 pages, this elegant, beautifully photographed COOK BOOK is a must for any serious lover of Caribbean cuisine. Chef Stuart Gray’s take on traditional and international dishes has made his restaurant, Coco Bistro, the creme de la creme of TCI eateries. ‘Beautiful by Flavour, Coco Bistro’ offers you the opportunity to recreate some of his most famous recipes. This is an elegant souvenir or the perfect gift from the islands. - Where to eat: Cayman’s #1 fried fish joint "Grape Tree Café"
Grape Tree Café was envisioned by local business man Osbourne Bodden “Ozzie” for some time since taking over the running of the family business in 2001. While serving in public office from 2005 – 2009 prohibited him from achieving his plan, when summer of 2009 rolled along and after leaving office, he proceeded to build the structure that you see today. On October 1, 2009 Grape Tree Café was opened to the public and it’s been a success story ever since. The volume of sales have continued to grow with many happy return customers, local and foreign. The café has provided a boost to the centre of historical Bodden Town and gives people a chance to come and enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful beach and evening sunsets. Grape Tree Cafe has also been used during the week to sell local lunches and this will continue. Ozzie hopes to develop the small business further as time goes on, adding some beach activities and other food items. He will ensure that warm welcome is always there, and that the ambience is preserved. With smooth Caribbean sounds in the background, beautiful sunsets and starlit nights, this should not be too hard to do. Grape Tree Café serves a range of fried fish, jerk chicken, conch fritters, chicharon and chicken tenders. Eat under the cabanas on the beach, with your toes in the sand. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for lunch and dinner. Freshly caught snapper served with a choice of fried breadfruit, onion, festival and pickles. CI$10-14 grapetreecafe.ky
