Shaggy Ready for Boombastic Show in Brooklyn

New York, NY (FOX FUSE) – International reggae/dancehall superstar

Shaggy brings his boombastic sounds to the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, December 13, 2015. He will be joined by reggae/hip-hop star Ky-Mani Marley, reggae mega-group Third World and rising sensation Amber Lee for the Sounds of Reggae Concert, presented by Jammins Events.

The biggest reggae artist alive, Shaggy is known internationally to fans for his suave rap flows (Jamaican deejaying) and provocative lyrics. He is enjoying a massive year with two tracks currently in heavy rotation across mainstream radio worldwide. They are “I Need Your Love” featuring Mohombi, Faydee and Costi, which peaked at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2015, and “Only Love” featuring Pitbull and Gene Nobel. Recent career highlights include an appearance on NBC’s TODAY show in July to perform “I Need Your Love,” and at the iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas in September, performing both new hits along with a medley of his famous tunes.

“‘Only Love’ is an important song and means a lot especially during these times when the world is in turmoil,” says Shaggy. “I want my fans to come out and celebrate not only my success but life. Let’s turn up Kings Theater!”

This is a homecoming for Shaggy, born Orville Burrell, who migrated from Jamaica to Brooklyn as a teenager. He was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when his dancehall remake of The Folkes Brothers’ ska track “Oh Carolina” became his breakout hit, back in 1993. He has since amassed global recognition internationally as a diamond-selling artist, known for blockbusters such as “Angel,” “It Wasn’t Me” and “Boombastic.” He also won the top prize for his genre, the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, in 1996 for Boombastic. He continues to tour the world nonstop and has also accomplished the rare feat of remaining relevant, as you cannot turn on a radio station in the New York Tri-State area without hearing a Shaggy track at some point, whether it is one of the new jams or a classic.

Joining Shaggy on stage is Ky-Mani Marley, son of the great Bob Marley, who brings his unique fusion of hip-hop and reggae to the lineup with massive hits like “New Heights,” “Dear Dad” and “Hustler.” Reggae luminary group Third World adds conscious sounds with crowd favorites such as “Now That We Found Love,” “96 Degrees In The Shade” and “Sense Of Purpose,”while rising singing sensation Amber Lee brings cool new vibes, delivering on all ends of the reggae spectrum and making for a definitive Sounds of Reggae Concert.
