Updated: 9 hours ago
Homage has won Caribbean Film of the Year at the inaugural Caribbean Film Awards, with Doubles taking Best Feature Film and Chiney K and Majah Hype receiving the leading acting awards. The organizers have released their winners graphic, confirming 14 awards across film, performance, writing, music and emerging talent.
The organizers list Best Feature Film and Caribbean Film of the Year as separate categories: Doubles won Best Feature Film, while Homage received Caribbean Film of the Year.
The awards celebration took place on October 10, 2026, at Theater N in Wilmington, Delaware, as part of the Caribbean International Film & Fashion Festival, known as CARIFF. The results bring together established entertainers, emerging filmmakers and productions telling stories from the Caribbean and its diaspora.
Kerry-Ann “Chiney K” Collins’ Best Actress victory and Majah Hype’s Best Actor award place two familiar Caribbean entertainment personalities among the inaugural acting winners. Deon Gibson received Best Director, while Ina Sotirova was named Best Caribbean Emerging Filmmaker. The official winners graphic names these individual recipients without attaching a film title to their awards.
Beach Inna Bondage won Best Documentary, bringing recognition to a film focused on the fight for public access to Jamaica’s coastline. Stew Peas received Best Original Screenplay, while Threads Of Us claimed the Caribbean Heritage Film Award.
The music honors extended from cinema to the music-video format: Unbelievable won Best Original Soundtrack, and Sharon Marley’s Steppah took Best Caribbean Music Video. Heartfall received Best Costume Design & Fashion, recognizing another part of the creative work that shapes a film’s visual identity.
