Jamaican dancehall artiste Charly Black is appealing for the return of jewellery valued at approximately US$8,500 (KSh1.1 million) after the expensive pieces went missing following a recent performance in Kenya.

The Gyal You a Party Animal hitmaker revealed the loss during an appearance on the Kenyan entertainment programme Obinna Live, explaining that he had been wearing the jewellery during his performance before discovering it was missing.

According to the entertainer, the missing pieces include a pendant valued at approximately US$6,000 (KSh780,000) and a chain worth an estimated US$2,500 (KSh325,000), bringing their combined value to roughly US$8,500.

During the interview with media personality Oga Obinna, Charly Black explained that efforts had already been made to locate the jewellery, with several individuals asked to assist in searching for the missing items.

Charly Black Offers Reward for Missing Jewellery

Despite the substantial financial value of the missing accessories, Charly Black expressed hope that the jewellery could still be recovered. He indicated that a cash reward would be paid in United States dollars to anyone who helps recover the missing items.

However, the dancehall star did not disclose a specific reward amount or a timeline for payment.

Dancehall Star's Kenya Visit

Charly Black's visit highlights the longstanding popularity of Jamaican reggae and dancehall in Kenya, where Caribbean performers have cultivated loyal audiences.

The Jamaican entertainer, whose real name is Desmond Mendez, rose to international prominence with his hit Gyal You a Party Animal, which became popular across Latin America and other international markets.

How Did the Jewellery Disappear?

The exact circumstances surrounding the disappearance remain unclear. It has not been established whether the jewellery was misplaced, became detached during the performance or disappeared under other circumstances.

There is no confirmed evidence in the reporting reviewed that the jewellery was stolen. For now, the entertainer is hoping someone will come forward with information that leads to the recovery of the pendant and chain.
