A crown marks a moment, but a legacy is built through what comes after it. That ambition sits at the heart of Mr. & Miss Central Jamaica’s sixth-anniversary staging, as the competition prepares to welcome a new group of contestants under the theme “The Rising Legacy.”
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 competition, which organizers say will bring a larger production and bigger prizes to St. Ann. Open to Jamaicans ages 14 to 24, the upcoming edition invites young people from across the island to put themselves forward before applications close on December 1, 2026.
For President Tayjaun Banner, the anniversary represents an opportunity to strengthen the competition’s purpose and its aspirations for the young people who enter.
“For our 6th anniversary, we chose the theme ‘The Rising Legacy’ because we are not just crowning winners, we are building future leaders. St. Ann will see a bigger production, bigger prizes, and a world-class experience. We are inviting Jamaica to be part of this legacy,” Banner said in the organization’s media brief.
That emphasis on future leadership gives the anniversary theme its direction. Beyond the excitement of a coronation, organizers are positioning this edition around the potential of a new generation and the contribution they hope contestants will make beyond the stage.
The journey will unfold through several scheduled pre-events, including an Opening Ceremony, Sashing Ceremony, Fitness Competition, Swimwear Parade and Preliminaries. Together, these events will lead up to the Grand Coronation on July 3, 2027, when the reigning titleholders are expected to crown their successors.
St. Ann will serve as the host parish, with specific venues still to be announced. Further details about the promised prize packages and expanded production have not yet been released.
Although the competition carries the Central Jamaica name, the invitation to apply extends to eligible Jamaicans islandwide. With the December deadline approaching, interested applicants can begin by completing the official application form.
The anniversary campaign also opens the door for support beyond the contestant lineup. Organizers are seeking sponsors, additional media partners and volunteers to help bring the sixth-anniversary staging to life. Businesses and individuals interested in participating can contact the organization directly to discuss available opportunities.
Caribbean EMagazine joins the competition as a media sponsor for this anniversary edition, helping introduce readers to the event and its call for participation.
For prospective contestants, the next step begins well before coronation night: submitting an application and becoming part of the journey toward “The Rising Legacy.”
Applications close on December 1, 2026.
