Selected to compete in the upcoming Mister Friendship International pageant, Anthony is on a mission to promote unity, diversity, and—true to the competition’s name—friendship. In an exclusive interview with Caribbean E-Magazine, Anthony opens up about his upbringing, his hopes for the competition, and what Jamaica means to him.
Q&A with Mister Friendship Jamaica 2025, Anthony Arroyo
Where did you grow up in Jamaica? I was born and raised in the beautiful Parish of St. Thomas, which is known for its lush mountains.
What is the Mister Friendship International pageant about? Mister Friendship International is a male beauty pageant focusing on promoting friendship, cultural exchange, and positive values among young men. The pageant often takes place in various countries, including Thailand, where it aims to celebrate diversity and foster international friendship through competition and cultural activities.
How important is friendship? Friendship is important because it helps build bridges with others from all walks of life. It helps people not just communicate but break boundaries that were set from distance and separation.
What are you looking forward to most at the international competition? I’m looking for the chance to meet different people and learn how to adapt to their lifestyle based on where they are from.
What are you planning to tell the judges and contestants about Jamaica? I’m planning to tell the judges and contestants that Jamaica is not just a country, but a symbol of people that are resilient, united, energized, and willing to welcome everyone with open arms. We are known for music such as reggae, delicious food, and terrain that beats the imagination.
Why should you be selected as Mister Friendship International 2025? I should be selected as Mister Friendship International 2025 because I have what it takes to not just promote the brand but help unite more people and break more boundaries and cultural differences. I want to show people that it doesn’t matter where you are from; you can still put yourself in a position in life where you never thought it was possible to surpass.
How do you make friends? I make friends from social media, visiting countries, and just starting a conversation by saying “Good Day.” Once that boundary has been broken, I continue talking about common ground.
What is your favorite color? My favorite color is yellow because it reflects a radiant light that promotes atmosphere and energy.
How do you relax? I relax by reading a book and educating myself about things I have yet to discover.
What’s your favorite food? My favorite food is tripe and beans with white rice.
Which celebrity would you like to meet? I would love to meet Bob Marley if he were still alive. I have a lot of questions about how he was able to bring so many people from all walks of life together just by using his talent—singing.
A Voice for Friendship and Culture
Anthony Arroyo brings more than charm to the pageant stage—he brings a message. A message that Jamaica is not only about stunning beaches and jerk chicken but about a people whose warmth, strength, and cultural vibrancy can bridge global divides.
