Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, known for his infectious Afrobeat tunes, is venturing into a new creative space: film. Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, is stepping behind the scenes as an executive producer for the upcoming thriller, "3 Cold Dishes."
"3 Cold Dishes" tells the story of Esosa, Fatouma, and Giselle, three women who are survivors of sex trafficking. Now hardened by their experiences, they navigate the dangerous world of underground prostitution, becoming powerful players in their own right.
Burna Boy isn't going at it alone. He'll be co-producing the film through Spaceship Films, his production company launched in 2015 alongside his mother, Bose Ogulu. They'll be partnering with Ifind, Alma Productions, Asurf Films, Martian Network, and Black Mic Mac, a production company focused on showcasing talents from Africa and the Middle East.
The film is directed by Asurf Oluseyi, a rising talent himself. Oluseyi won the 2016 African Magic Viewer's Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Short Film for "A Day with Death." "3 Cold Dishes" is written by Tomi Adesina and boasts a star-studded cast featuring Nigerian actors Osas Ighodaro, Femi Jacobs, Wale Ojo, and Ruby Akubueze, alongside Ivorian and Senegalese actors. The film promises a thrilling journey across Nigeria, the Republic of Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire
