Shaggy Set to Ignite the Stage at TD Halifax Jazz Festival's 38th Edition

Shaggy

Grammy-winning reggae and dancehall artist Shaggy will headline the TD Halifax Jazz Festival on July 12. The festival will take place from July 11 to 16 at the waterfront Salter Lot in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Shaggy is known for his hit songs such as "Boombastic," "It Wasn't Me," and "Angel." He has won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, a World Music Award, and an American Music Award.

In addition to Shaggy, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival will feature performances by a wide range of artists, including Feist, Fleet Foxes, BADBADNOTGOOD, Sudan Archives, Digable Planets, Jenn Grant, Jah'mila, Maestro Fresh Wes, and Fortunate Ones.

The main stage will also host a series of free daytime performances, including sets by Wolf Castle & the Moon Illusion, Mary Ancheta Quartet, Kate Wyatt and more.

Halifax Jazz will also have performances hosted in more intimate settings as part of a trio of concert series. Four evenings at St. Matthew's United Church will see performances by Tanika Charles, the Bad Plus, Mali Obomsawin and Mike Murley Septet.

JUNO-winning saxophonist Murley will also join the Florian Hoefner Trio onstage at the Carleton as part of that venue's series, which also features Caity Gyorgy and Nicola Miller & Living Things (feat. Frank Gratkowski) and the Behrooz Mihankhah Ensemble.

On the festival's opening night, Joseph Strug Concert Hall at the Dalhousie Performing Arts Centre will play host to Hearing Halifax, featuring city-centric stories told by Jah'Mila, Jeff Reilly, Aquakultre, Taral Naik, Raymond Sewell and Calen Kenney, backed by the music of James Shaw's Vesuvius Big Band.
