The 2021 Jamaica Song Competition Finalists were revealed today and the list includes; Stacious and I-Octane, dancehall reggae artists and legendary soca and reggae band Fab 5. Twelve contest finalists were selected by the Jamaican Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), chief judge of the committee, Donovan Germain, who celebrated this year's 55th anniversary.

According to Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, "The 12 finalists represent a wide cross section of genres that will appeal to a wide audience. We want the winning song to be on the lips of every man, woman and child this Independence and beyond."

She expressed her delight that "so many outstanding performers, writers, and producers entered the Jamaica Festival Song Competition this year, and that three women were among the finalists."

The Jamaica Festival Song Competition, which started in 1966, has helped to launch and advance careers of some of Jamaica’s acclaimed singers and songwriters. Winners of the competition have included Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Decker, Eric Donaldson, Roy Rayon, Buju Banton and Stanley Beckford.
