Trouble Takes Over as New Carnival 2027 Music Begins to Reshape the Chart

September marks a turning point in the soca calendar.

The summer festival season is winding down, but the next Carnival cycle is already beginning to take shape. New releases are arriving with clear Trinidad Carnival 2027 ambitions, while several of 2026’s biggest records continue to prove that strong soca songs can live far beyond their original season.

That balance between new momentum and sustained impact is exactly what defines this month’s CEM Top 10 Soca Singles.

Patrice Roberts and MadLypso lead the September chart with “Trouble,” while Tano and Coutain continue their remarkable late-year surge with “Suga Dumplin.” Voice remains firmly in the mix with two songs inside the Top 10, and four fresh entries signal the beginning of a new wave.

Here is the CEM Top 10 Soca Singles for September 2026.

👑 #1 – “Trouble”

Patrice Roberts & MadLypso — ⬆️ from #6

“Trouble” makes the biggest move of the month.

After entering the CEM chart at No. 6 in August, the Patrice Roberts and MadLypso collaboration has gained enough momentum to climb all the way to the top spot.

The record benefits from timing. It arrived just as audiences began shifting attention toward new-season soca, and its blend of energy, melody and Carnival-ready production has helped it stand out among a crowded field of releases.

More importantly, “Trouble” did not simply debut strong and disappear. It continued to gain attention through September, which is exactly the kind of month-over-month growth the CEM chart is designed to reward.

Patrice Roberts earns her first No. 1 of this current CEM chart cycle.

⬆️ #2 – “Suga Dumplin”

Tano & Coutain — from #3

“Suga Dumplin” continues to be one of 2026’s most interesting soca stories.

Released months earlier, the track did not immediately explode. Instead, it built gradually through regional radio, digital charts, DJ support and audience discovery.

That slow-burn rise has now carried the song from a late breakout into one of the strongest soca records of the moment.

Tano and Coutain remain just one position away from the top spot, and if the song continues its current trajectory, it could easily remain a major contender heading into October.

⬇️ #3 – “Lighters Up”

Voice — from #1

Voice slips from No. 1, but “Lighters Up” remains one of the strongest records on the chart.

The song’s decline is less about fading momentum and more about the arrival of newer music gaining ground.

Its melodic, festival-ready quality has helped it transition well across summer events and into the next stage of the soca season.

Voice still holds two positions in the CEM Top 10 this month, reinforcing his status as one of the most consistent soca artists of 2026.

#4 – “Take My Time”

Mical Teja & Jofroxi — No Change

“Take My Time” holds steady at No. 4. That stability matters. While several songs around it rise and fall, Mical Teja and Jofroxi continue to benefit from strong groovy-soca appeal, DJ support and replay value.

The record feels less like a quick trend and more like a song audiences are settling into, making its continued Top 5 presence well deserved.

🆕 #5 – “Chupidee”

Tano & Kimi — NEW ENTRY

The highest new entry of September belongs to Tano and Kimi.

“Chupidee” arrives late in the month but wastes no time making an impression. Its immediate DJ attention and Carnival-forward sound make it one of the clearest early indicators of where soca may be heading next.

Because the song had limited time to build a full month of momentum, CEM places it at No. 5 rather than pushing it immediately into the top tier.

Still, this is one of September’s most important debuts. Watch closely in October.

⬇️ #6 – “Cyah Behave”

Voice — from #2

“Cyah Behave” continues an extraordinary chart run.

Months after first dominating the CEM rankings, the song remains inside the Top 10 despite a flood of newer releases.

Its fall to No. 6 reflects natural chart movement rather than a collapse in popularity. Few soca songs this year have demonstrated this level of longevity, and its continued presence shows why Voice has been one of 2026’s most consistent performers.

🆕 #7 – “BET”

Erphaan Alves & Viking Ding Dong — NEW ENTRY

“BET” enters the chart with strong early momentum. Erphaan Alves and Viking Ding Dong deliver a record that immediately feels suited for the next Carnival season: rhythmic, energetic and easy for DJs to work into high-energy sets.

Its late-September arrival limits how high CEM is willing to place it this month, but No. 7 gives the song room to grow. If the record continues gaining traction, October could look very different.

#8 – “Panorama Luv”

Nadia Batson — No Change

Nadia Batson holds steady with “Panorama Luv.”

The record remains one of the more melodic and emotionally warm songs on the chart, offering a welcome contrast to the harder, more aggressive Carnival releases beginning to emerge.

Batson’s ability to maintain a Top 10 position as newer material arrives shows the song still has meaningful support.

🆕 #9 – “Miss Rosey”

Jadel & XplicitMevon — NEW ENTRY

Jadel and XplicitMevon enter the CEM Top 10 with “Miss Rosey.”

The song stands out for its storytelling and melodic structure, giving it a slightly different identity from many of the season’s more straightforward party records.

That distinction could work in its favor as audiences look for songs with personality as well as rhythm. For now, No. 9 is a strong opening position.

🆕 #10 – “Gyal Alone”

Th3rd feat. Boogy Rankss — NEW ENTRY

Closing out September’s chart is “Gyal Alone.”

Released late in the month, the record has already begun generating early DJ attention and earns the final CEM Top 10 position. Its placement is intentionally conservative.

CEM does not reward a song simply because it is new. The goal is to measure whether that release begins converting attention into sustained impact.

“Gyal Alone” has made the first step. October will show whether it can climb.

September’s Biggest Story: Carnival 2027 Has Started Early

The most important trend this month is clear: the next Carnival season is already influencing the chart.

Four new entries arrive in September:

“Chupidee” — Tano & Kimi“BET” — Erphaan Alves & Viking Ding Dong“Miss Rosey” — Jadel & XplicitMevon“Gyal Alone” — Th3rd feat. Boogy Rankss

Yet CEM has intentionally avoided allowing every new release to replace proven records.

Songs such as “Suga Dumplin,” “Lighters Up,” “Take My Time,” “Cyah Behave” and “Panorama Luv” remain because they continue to demonstrate enough impact to justify their positions.

That is the balance the CEM chart is designed to capture.

Songs Leaving the CEM Top 10

Four songs exit the September rankings:

Encore — Machel MontanoCAPITAL — Mical Teja & Patrice RobertsMove Out D Way — Paris Coutain, Machel Montano & Travis WorldStill A Road Man — Bunji Garlin & XplicitMevon

Each had a strong run, but the chart is beginning to transition toward newer material as the 2027 Carnival cycle gathers momentum.

🏆 CEM Soca Artist of the Month: Patrice Roberts

Patrice Roberts is CEM’s Soca Artist of the Month for September 2026.

The honor reflects more than simply holding the No. 1 song.

“Trouble” climbed from No. 6 to No. 1 in one month, demonstrating sustained growth rather than a brief debut spike. Roberts also remains part of one of 2026’s strongest earlier collaborations through “CAPITAL,” even as that record exits the Top 10.

Her September performance reflects exactly what CEM’s Artist of the Month designation is intended to recognize: momentum, consistency and cultural presence.

CEM Chart Methodology

The CEM Top 10 Soca Singles is Caribbean EMagazine’s independent monthly editorial ranking. It is not copied from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or any single existing chart.

Rankings consider streaming and digital momentum, playlist visibility, radio and DJ support, YouTube engagement, festival and Carnival presence, longevity, cultural impact, release momentum and Caribbean EMagazine’s editorial assessment.

CEM deliberately balances new momentum with sustained impact, meaning a newly released song does not automatically outrank an older record that continues to perform strongly.

The goal is to identify the ten soca singles making the strongest overall impact right now across the Caribbean and its global diaspora.
