Dancehall superstar Konshens and afrobeats icon Davido collaborate on the new summer banger "Boom Bang," which is available now on all DSPs. The track was co-produced by Ricky Blaze and Jonny Blaze and will appear on Konshens' upcoming album, Red Reign.
Complex premiered the “Boom Bang” video, directed by Jamaican dancehall star Demarco, in Atlanta . “We couldn't do Jamaica, we couldn't do Nigeria, so we met at a crossroads,” Konshens says of Atlanta, which serves as a major hub for both the Jamaican and Nigerian diasporas. “There is no storyline to the video; it's just a fun vibe, and that's what we're looking for as we head into the summer. We've been taking things far too seriously over the last year, so we're trying to lighten things up now.”
Known for international dancehall smashes like "Bruk Off Yuh Back" and "Gal a Bubble," Konshens has represented the genre on collaborations with Nipsey Hussle, Cardi B, Doja Cat, The Chainsmokers, Nick Jam, and Rick Ross, to name a few. He can also be heard on the newly released F9: The Furious Saga soundtrack, alongside Justin Quiles and Dalex, on the track "Real." Davido is one of Africa's most influential artists, a global superstar known for creating some of afrobeats' most far-reaching and instantly recognizable tracks, including "Fall," "If," and 2020's "Fem."
“Boom Bang” follows the Spice and Rvssian collaboration “Pay For It” and the introspective “Can't Stay Sober” as Konshens prepares to release Red Reign via Ineffable Records later this year. The album marks the first release of the label arm of Ineffable Music Group, a diversified Oakland-based music company.
ABOUT KONSHENS Konshens is the voice behind many of the biggest dancehall anthems of all-time. A specialist in so-called gyal tunes, hits like “Gal a Bubble” and “Bruk Off Yuh Back” are absolute essentials of the genre, capable of sending dancers into a frenzy the moment they play in a party. But there’s more to Konshens than one sound. As collaborations with Nipsey Hussle, The Chainsmokers, Cardi B, Major Lazer, Rick Ross, Nicky Jam, Doja Cat, Enrique Iglesias, E-40, Eve, Jamie XX, Farruko, Pitbull and Clean Bandit attest, he’s an artist whose talents can’t be boxed in. All told, his tracks have amassed over 1 billion streams.
