British-Jamaican reggae star Maxi Priest has signed a global management agreement with Birmingham-based EVO Music Management, the company that also manages UB40, according to an announcement issued today, November 6.
The partnership comes as Priest develops new music. EVO’s remit includes recordings, international touring, brand partnerships and career development, while CAA and Big Wave provide booking representation.
The announcement does not disclose when the agreement was signed.
New Music in Development
“I’ve been working hard on lots of new music,” Priest said in the statement.
No release dates, project titles or collaborators were revealed. Priest said creative freedom and a team that understands his ambitions were priorities for this next stage.
EVO co-founders James Abdou and Matt Campbell welcomed the partnership, highlighting his enthusiasm for making music and his appeal across generations. Abdou also argued that reggae receives insufficient attention within mainstream British music culture.
What the Agreement Could Mean
For Caribbean and diaspora audiences, the development puts the business behind an established reggae career in focus. A management agreement covering recordings, live work and commercial partnerships could help coordinate how new material reaches listeners and how performances support it. Those opportunities will depend on the projects and commitments that follow.
Priest’s musical identity has long connected reggae with R&B and pop. His official biography describes a childhood shaped by gospel and Jamaican music, followed by a career balancing reggae foundations with broader pop appeal.
That background makes audience development a point to watch. How might EVO introduce his forthcoming recordings to younger listeners while continuing to serve the fans who already know his music? Today’s announcement offers no specific digital campaign, collaboration strategy or audience targets.
Caribbean Performances Remain Unannounced
The statement provides no Caribbean concert dates tied to the agreement. Details about recording plans, regional performances and promotional activity remain outstanding.
For now, the confirmed development is a new management relationship alongside music in progress. Further project announcements are expected.
