Shenseea Releases Catalyst EP With Vybz Kartel and Asake

Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea has released her eight-track EP Catalyst on November 6, 2026, bringing together dancehall, Afrobeats, R&B and international collaborations with Vybz Kartel, Asake and Loe Shimmy.

The new project reflects the artist’s ongoing effort to expand her global reach while staying connected to the Jamaican music scene that launched her career.

A New Chapter Rooted in Jamaica

Shenseea has built her career by moving confidently between dancehall, pop, hip-hop and R&B. Catalyst continues that evolution, pairing her familiar Jamaican influences with a wider range of contemporary sounds.

For Caribbean music listeners, the release raises an important question: how can an artist embrace international success without losing the identity that first connected her to fans at home?

A Reunion With Vybz Kartel

One of the EP’s standout moments is Talk To Me Nuh, featuring Vybz Kartel. Their musical connection dates back to Loodi, the 2016 collaboration that helped introduce Shenseea to a broader dancehall audience.

The reunion connects a defining moment in her early career with her current position as an internationally recognized Jamaican performer. Talk To Me Nuh appears as the EP’s bonus track.

Asake Joins Shenseea on Playtime

Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake appears on Playtime, the project’s focus track. The collaboration highlights the growing creative exchange between Jamaican dancehall and African popular music.

American rapper Loe Shimmy also contributes to the project on Private, adding another international musical connection.

Vulnerability Offers a Personal Perspective

Beyond its high-energy collaborations, Catalyst includes Vulnerability, a personal recording that addresses grief, family relationships and the challenges of navigating the entertainment industry.

The song offers a more introspective contrast to Shenseea’s confident performance style and gives the EP emotional range.

Building on Her International Success

Catalyst follows Shenseea’s 2022 debut album Alpha and her 2024 sophomore album Never Gets Late Here, which received a nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

As Caribbean artists continue to collaborate across genres and borders, Shenseea’s latest project illustrates both the opportunities and the debates surrounding dancehall’s global direction.
