Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt is officially engaged to his longtime partner, Kasi Bennett, marking a new chapter in a relationship that has spanned more than a decade.

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist proposed to Bennett on Friday, August 21, 2026, during his star-studded 40th birthday celebration at One Belmont in Kingston, Jamaica. Surrounded by family and friends, Bolt got down on one knee and asked the mother of his three children to marry him.

Photos from the celebration captured the emotional moment, with Bolt dressed in a beige checkered suit and holding a microphone as he knelt before Bennett, who wore an elegant gold dress with shimmering silver details. Bennett appeared visibly surprised before embracing her new fiancé following the proposal.

A Five-Carat Diamond for Kasi Bennett

Bolt made the milestone moment even more memorable with an impressive engagement ring. Reports describe the ring as featuring a five-carat pear-shaped diamond, surrounded by additional diamonds along the band.

The proposal came just hours after Bennett publicly celebrated Bolt's milestone birthday with a heartfelt social media tribute. She described the retired athlete as her "person," "love," "home" and "forever," while praising the man and father he has become beyond his legendary achievements on the track.

By the end of the night, "forever" had taken on an entirely new meaning for the longtime couple.

Usain Bolt and Kasi Bennett's Love Story

Bolt and Bennett reportedly began dating in 2013, keeping much of their relationship away from the public eye during the early years. Their romance became publicly known around the time of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, when Bolt was still at the height of his historic athletics career.

Their relationship has since evolved from a private romance into a family of five.

In 2020, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Olympia Lightning Bolt. The following year, their family expanded again with the arrival of twin sons Thunder Bolt and Saint Leo Bolt.

The children are now an important part of the life Bolt and Bennett have built together following his retirement from competitive athletics.

For Bolt, the engagement also appears to reflect something he spoke about years ago: his desire to build the type of lasting relationship he witnessed between his own parents. The sprinting icon previously explained that he did not want to rush marriage and wanted to take his time to make sure the relationship was right.

More than a decade after he and Bennett began dating, that journey has now led to an engagement.

From Olympic History to a New Personal Milestone

Bolt remains one of Jamaica's most recognizable global icons and one of the greatest athletes in history. He won eight Olympic gold medals and still holds the men's world records in both the 100 metres at 9.58 seconds and 200 metres at 19.19 seconds. He retired from competitive athletics in 2017.

Yet his 40th birthday celebration was less about medals and records and more about the family and relationship he has built away from the track.

For Jamaican and Caribbean fans who followed Bolt from his emergence as a young sprinting phenomenon to becoming a global superstar, the engagement offers another milestone in a life that has largely unfolded in the public eye.

The world's fastest man may have built his career around speed, but when it came to marriage, Bolt clearly chose to take his time.

After approximately 13 years together and three children, Usain Bolt and Kasi Bennett are now preparing for their next chapter as husband and wife.
