Two of Jamaica’s most dynamic musical exports, Skillibeng and Shenseea, have earned a prestigious nod at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), proving once again that Caribbean talent is making waves on the global stage.

Their track “Shake It to the Max (Fly) (Remix)”, in collaboration with Ghanaian artist Moliy and producer Silent Addy, has been nominated in the Best Afrobeats category. This nomination is not just a win for the duo but a proud moment for the entire Caribbean music scene.

The MTV VMAs 2025 will broadcast live on September 7 from the UBS Arena in New York, airing coast to coast on CBS and MTV, and streaming on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.

Skillibeng, known for his sharp lyrical style and gritty dancehall sound, and Shenseea, a global pop-dancehall sensation, have both spent the past few years expanding their international presence. This collaboration blends elements of Afrobeats with dancehall, hip-hop, and pop, a genre-defying fusion that reflects the evolution of Caribbean music in today’s global soundscape.

The nomination places them alongside heavyweights like Burna Boy, Travis Scott, and Asake, showing that Caribbean artists are not only part of the conversation, they're leading it.
